Our annual bonfire and fireworks is fast approaching but this year will be something different - a Halloween themed Spook-tacular bonfire and fireworks display!
The Community Bonfire is funded almost entirely out of monies collected by the Lions at various events and donations on the gate. In 2010 more than 3,500 people enjoyed the bonfire and spectacular firework display on Glebelands, Ninelands Lane
The Event is run as a Community Services and not as a fund raiser as a big thank you for the generosity local people show us in our fundraising activities throughout the year. Providing this free event allows local people to enjoy a bonfire and professional firework display in their local community.
The club does receive support from Leeds City Council sometimes in the form of Bonfire Materials and donations.
The 2010 fire was officially lit by local councillor Mark Dobson and Lion President Nigel Ware.
Pumkin Competition
This year we are running a pumpkin competition. Deliver your pumpkin to the field between 3 & 4pm on the day and we will display it on the "pumpkin Field".
The pumpkins wills be judged with the best individual entry winning £20 and the best group entry winning £50.

Fancy Dress
As its Halloween we encourage you to turn up in Fancy dress as well.....small spot prizes for the best dressed!

Please note that we are unable to host the event on Bonfire night this year, as the costs of firework displays become prohibitive on the big day itself - about three times the normal cost and, as we are all volunteers, we cannot have the event on a week day (without taking time off work to prepare) so have decided rather than to cancel to bring the event forward a week to Saturday 29th October and have a bit of Halloween fun.
We hope that you will understand our reasons and will continue to support us as you have done every year. Watch this space for further details of our plans and fancy dress and pumpkin design competitions. Fire lighting at 7pm, fireworks start at 7.30pm.

We would like to thank thank the Scouts who helped build the bonfire and marshal the event, COMPAS for providing refreshments (whilst also raising valuable funds for their work with the Garforth Academy), the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service and of course everyone that donated.
