This year the Giant Easter Egg raffles were a success! The Raffles took place at various pubs and events within the Yorkshire area.

The Lions have used these funds raised to buy a new wheelchair for Andy Atkinson after witnessing the fantastic work he does with young people, despite his own disabilities.

Garforth and District Lions Club have backed a true Leeds winner, providing volunteering award winner Andy with a new RGK Quattro Titanium sports wheelchair. This high quality sports wheelchair will enable Andy to continue his award winning work with young people in the Leeds area.

A well deserved winner of the '2010 Leeds Volunteering Children and Young People Award', Andy is a perfect example of someone who has triumphed against adversity to make a big difference to the people of his home city. Born with no legs and one arm and having spent 8 years in a Barnardo’s home, Andy has shown that with effort & perseverance even with a severe disability you can achieve more in life than most fully able bodied people.

In addition to his sports work with young people Andy also raises funds annually to take a group of local young people to the 'Soul Survivor' music festival in Bath and works with church based group SPACE.
Andy was first associated with Garforth & District Lions when attending a visit to Germany as part of an exchange programme for disabled young people, which has been organised by a number of Yorkshire Lions clubs in conjunction with a number of German Lions clubs for over 40 years.
