  Who Do We Help?

  Environment

We are Lions because we are good-hearted and want to do good. We realise that by joining with like-minded people we can accomplish great things. This year the Lions International President asked Lions worldwide to join together on a project that can help save our earth, contribute to people’s emotional well-being, solidify our clubs and make Lions clubs more attractive to young people and others. It also allows us to interact and aid other groups and community members.

The project? To plant 1 million trees worldwide this year. This aims to be a great public service. Trees are not just pretty; they are vital to the health of our planet. Trees save soil by reducing erosion, provide habitat for wildlife and, most importantly, take in carbon dioxide and breathe out oxygen. Trees improve our air, protect our water and save energy. Things at Garforth & District Lions club are in full swing and currently we are helping to supply and plant trees at Fiddler Lane Garden [We are donating the trees shown as purple in the above plan].

We have also assisted with various "In Bloom" committees such as Garforth In Bloom and the Growing Zone as well as assisting schools to buy various gardening tools to further educate children on the world around them.

Thank you for your support
